About the 181st Airlift Squadron
The 181st Airlift Squadron is part of the 136th Airlift Wing located at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base (formerly Carswell AFB). Our unit has been flying the C-130 since 1978. We transitioned from the legacy H model to the new C-130J in 2021. With two major airline headquarters and hubs (Southwest and American) and an extensive aerospace engineering sector, The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is one of the largest aviation centers in the world.
How to Visit/Rush the Squadron
Thank you for your interest in the 181st Airlift Squadron – Texas Air Guard. We do not currently have a formal rushing process; we operate with an open-door policy under our Texas state motto of Friendship. Our squadron drills quarterly, and drill weekend is the best time to visit. This time facilitates the biggest opportunity to meet many of our pilots and squadron members as well as witness our operations. We want to get to know you and give you the opportunity to get to know us. We are hiring pilots for a career that could easily last 20+ years – getting to know you is critical to the application process. Please utilize our pilot hiring email for more information or to coordinate a visit: 181stpilothiring@gmail.com
