Thank you for your interest in the South Dakota Air National Guard. The South Dakota Air National Guard was founded by WWII Medal of Honor recipient and former Governor Joe Foss on September 20, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD flying the P-51 Mustang. The Lobos today fly the F-16 and have flown a variety of aircraft throughout our heritage to include the F-94, F-89, F-102, F-100, and A-7. The pilots of the 114th Fighter Wing have trained and operated around the globe for over 75 years and we continue to stand ready to fight and meet the global challenges of the future.
