About the 124th Attack Squadron

The 124th "Hawkeyes" are a descendant organization of the 124th Observation Squadron (OS), established on 25 February 1941. The OS initially flew the North American O-47 twin-seat observation monoplane. From 1941 to present day, the Hawkeyes have patrolled the skies in aircraft such as the P39 Aircobra, P-40 Warkhawk, P-51 Mustang, F-80C Shooting Star, F-84E Thunderjet, F-86L Sabre, F-89J Scorpion, F-84F Thunderstreak, F-100D Super Sabre, the A-7D Corsair II, and finally the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

The 124th Attack Squadron now operates the MQ-9A Reaper, an armed multi-mission, medium altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft. Given its significant loiter time, wide-range of sensors, multi-mode communications suite, and precision guided weapons; the MQ-9A provides COCOM's with deployable precision engagement capabilities for time-critical and/or fleeting high value targets, air interdiction, strike coordination and reconnaissance, and close air support to dominate any aggressor.

Make no mistake, through next generation communication links, the "Hawkeyes" can affect military operations anywhere in the world at any time.
