The North Dakota Air National Guard serves as the aerial militia of the State of North Dakota. Its state mission is to support civil authorities during emergencies and domestic operations under the direction of the Governor. Under its federal mission, the unit is available for mobilization and full integration into the United States Air Force.

The 119th Wing provides trained and ready Airmen who deliver world class capabilities for both the nation and the state. This includes intelligence, cyber, expeditionary support, and now the addition of a B‑52 mission through Detachment 1.

Detachment 1, 119th Operations Group, is the newest organization within the Wing. It was established as a Classic Association with the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base. Through this partnership, Air National Guard aircrew and maintainers work directly alongside active duty personnel in support of global strike, nuclear deterrence, and long range conventional operations. Det 1 expands the Wing’s mission portfolio and strengthens the B‑52 enterprise by providing continuity, experience, and depth across aircrew and maintenance specialties.

We welcome aviators who are interested in joining the detachment. Prior B‑52 experience is helpful but not required. We are looking for rated officers who want to contribute to a high impact mission. We accept applicants with experience in other airframes, service members from other branches, and rated officers who wish to continue their service in the Air National Guard.
